WHo is mr. Jones?
Greetings! I am Mr. Ralph Jones (Coach Jones), and I am excited to be joining the awesome teaching team at Ridge Road Middle School. I am originally from Denver Colorado, but was raised in the desert of Phoenix, Arizona. I recently moved to Charlotte from Union City California where I was a faculty member and the head track and cross cross-country coach at California State University East Bay.
I was coaching at the college level for the past twelve years and I have coached at every level. During my time coaching I have coached 7 teams to national championships, and received coach of the year honor twice. I currently coach athletes privately and have several athletes preparing to compete in the 2016 Olympic games. I am a member of the USA track and field association and served as the committee chair for open track and field athletes in the Pacific Association. I am also a certified USATF level I coaching instructor. I graduated with my Masters of Education degree from the Ohio State University and began my teaching and coaching career after graduating. I completed my undergraduate studies at Morgan State University where I was a two sport athlete (football and track and field) and vice president of the Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (HPERD) Club, and earned an Associate of Arts degree from Central Arizona College. I have taught at various levels including elementary, middle school, high school, and college.
My passion is teaching and coaching and my philosophy is simply "providing fun experiences through physical activities that will improve the health and lives of individuals", I look forward to teaching and impacting every student in my class. In conclusion I would like to state that Physical Education and Health has many goals, but its one purpose is to contribute to the total individual development and enhancement of ones quality of life, and that's what my program will provide. I look forward to molding your child and helping them develop healthful living characteristics.
Best regards,
Mr. Ralph Jones
